How to make the best of the holidays.
The holidays are here again. Yippee!!! 💃🏽🕺🏽
Cue ‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year’ 🎶by Andy Williams. The end of the year really is the most wonderful time of the year, wouldn’t you agree?
It’s that time of the year filled with glee, family, decorations, and most importantly, the holidays - that work-free time just before the new year—and you probably don’t know what to do with yourself 😄
If you’re going to be completely free from work (or partially, as is most likely the case), here are a couple of activities that you can engage in to make the most of this holiday period:
- Sleep
Are you surprised that sleep is the first thing on my list? Don’t be. You've worked so hard throughout the year, and you deserve to rest, especially if you didn’t make time to rest before now. Your body will thank you for it. - Spend time with family
This might just be the most important thing that you can do this holiday period, especially if your work usually takes a huge chunk of your day and prevents you from spending quality time with those you love.
You can do this by watching movies together, going to a holiday resort, visiting your parents with your spouse and kids, sharing family stories or having dinner together. By spending quality time with them, you’ll be creating amazing memories that you’ll cherish forever. - Make plans to have fun
One mistake that many people make is that they don’t make plans to have fun. Just because it’s the period of festivities doesn’t mean that you’ll automatically have a fun time. If you have the resources, you can invite some friends over and have a party. You can also plan to attend concerts and events that others have organised.
A trip to any holiday destination around the world or within the country will leave you with memories that you won’t be forgetting anytime soon. - Host or attend a Christmas or New Year's Party
Nigerians can have a party for any reason at all. Some even have a party to celebrate the success of a previous party they had. So if you’re ever looking for a reason to party, Christmas and New Year’s Day is perfect. Eat, drink, and play fun games. - Take time to reflect and plan for the new year
Whether you’re into new year resolutions or not, you’ll agree that a new year presents the opportunity to reflect on all that you had planned for the year and assess yourself.
By doing this, you will be able to determine what has been left undone, what you need to put more effort into, and where to celebrate your wins. A well-thought-out plan for the new year will help guarantee a greater chance of success.
